MWC in May

The Moultonborough Women’s Club welcomed Sue Bowker to its March meeting. Sue leads the Nashua chapter of Days for Girls, an organization dedicated to delivering monthly items to girls and women around the world who are missing adequate necessities. Volunteers sew and assemble kits with reusable items to be distributed locally and globally. DfG brings education to women who are unprepared for this time in their lives. Items to girls in middle schools and high schools across this country are also provided. In 2021 this in still an issue and MWC is partnering with Days for Girls in this outreach. Castle in the Clouds’ Falls of Song is the destination this week and they have recently snowshoed on the trails at Geneva Point, around Page Pond and through the Chamberlain Reynolds trails by Squam Lake.We’re looking forward to our upcoming spring Zoom meetings. In April we’ll learn about the interesting programs at Prescott Farms, and in May local author Eileen McNamara, author of Eunice, The Kennedy Who Changed the World will be our speaker.— Leslie Ann Ashe contributor

MWC in March

President Amy Corston of the Moultonborough Women’s Club was very happy to &nbsp;announce the following students have been selected to receive scholarships for the 20-21 college year.Recipients are: &nbsp;Noah Robinson, Katie Duddy, Charles Anderson and Allison Taylor.They will be presented their scholarships by the principal Mr. Coppinger during a virtual presentation the week of June 1st. &nbsp;This is the very first time MWC has used a scholarship virtual presentation. &nbsp;Because of Covid-19 and social distancing a group photo may not be taken for some time. &nbsp; This year the $7,000, awarded brings the total donated throughout the years to $197,350. &nbsp;This was made possible by several bake sales, sandwich sale, yard sales, and galas with silent auctions and many diverse ways to raise funds. The hard working members on the Scholarship Committee are: Co-chairs Mary Lou Charron and Donna Conway, with outstanding help from: Judy Ballard, Jean Beadle, Sue Noyes , Louise O’Donald, Barbara Palmer, Libby Reichlen, Dotti Simpson and Mary Whiting. &nbsp;Now with Covid-19 it's most difficult to raise money. &nbsp;We are not able to have gatherings. &nbsp;We had several big things planned in the wings and had to abolish the planning and execution. &nbsp;Everything is at a standstill. 2020 Scholarship Awards

Moultonborough Women’s Club working on Adopt- A -Spot this season. &nbsp;Volunteers shown here: &nbsp;Mary Dominguez, Debbie Wiacek, Hettie Buck, Lee Bane, and Tracy Webster-Babcock. &nbsp;Leader, Barb Koehler, had a great response for help, with 5 new volunteers, in helping the Adopt-A-Spot this year; however, little could &nbsp;be done right now. &nbsp;They spent about an hour on &nbsp;preparation; wore masks and stayed a distance by dividing up the plot for each person. &nbsp;They were good workers, but not having water, put off adding more plants. &nbsp;They did weed, rake up, and feed the plants. &nbsp;The Moultonborough Women’s Club has always helped in beautifying the town in several different ways. &nbsp;In 2011, they answered the town’s call to Adopt-A-Spot and have taken the spot just beyond the library on the left. &nbsp;Each year they have planted additional perennials in their large plot. &nbsp;MWC is a service club and does much to support the community by doing good.~ Mil Toczko <figure id="figure-4pcyd83xsmp61ctv5"><img id="4pcyd83xsmp61ctv5" src="https://cdn.durable.co/covers/2ablVodq0McARh4hQsjDN5yQPDMxdizmDaUQyP6SP0cGbRZaGzGI7uySxwLTkE8I.jpg" alt="" title="" class="object-cover bg-gray-100 rounded-sm md:rounded-md lg:rounded-lg" style="aspect-ratio: 16/9; object-position: center center;" data-corners="default" data-aspect="16:9" data-caption="" data-positionX="undefined" data-positionY="undefined" data-fullWidth="false"/></figure>
