•           OUR SPEAKER:  Lieutenant Mark Cavic of Moultonborough Police Dept will speak about “Frauds & Swindles” and how we can be alert and protect ourselves.

•           CHARITY OF THE MONTH:  Please bring Items for June Jamboree’s Silent Auction – maybe you have a piece of jewelry you no longer wear, a lovely painting you don’t have room for, or a handcrafted item you have made, or a service to offer that others would be excited to bid on  – think outside the box, and bring it to the May meeting!

•           LOOKING AHEAD:  Mark your calendar now – June 3 Spring Luncheon & Installation of Officers and Woman of the Year Award is our next meeting, held at Barn on the Pemi in Plymouth NH– have you purchased your ticket yet?

Updates

•           A big THANKS to our Nominating Committee consisting of Pam King, Tracy Webster-Babcock & Jane Smits for the Slate of Officers.  There will be a vote on May 6 to accept this slate so please take a minute to review it.

•           THANK YOU to our Donations Committee, chaired by Susan Reepmeyer – please review their attached report for a list of local charities to receive our charitable contributions this spring.  This, too will be voted on May 6.

•           JUNE JAMBOREE TICKETS ($40) go PUBLIC – tomorrow April 16 – SEE BELOW for a link to purchase 2 tickets for yourself AND a link to share with your friends to purchase their own tickets. We expect to sell out quickly, thus the 2 tickets per order.

•           MEETING TASK FORCE is meeting on Tues April 16 to discuss options for our meeting format for the coming  year.  It is a mix of Board Members and newer members. . . stay tuned!

Important news about our June 8 Spring Fundraiser -  June Jamboree!

•           Plans are moving along for our upcoming June Jamboree – our Spring Fundraiser!! It will be held at the Ciardi’s Cider Barn and Car Barn on Moultonborough Neck Rd. A “Taste of New Hampshire” including food stations, live music, antique and hot rod cars, a live auction, lots of silent auction items and more…..!!!  

•           IMMEDIATE NEEDS:  We need more help in these areas: Decorations and Set Up Committee (Tina Middleton [email protected])  Food Committee (Kerry Soroka [email protected]) and Silent Auction Committee (Lorraine Taylor [email protected])  Surprise them with an offer to help!!

•           JAMBOREE TICKETS:  Today, April 15 is the last day of the members-only ticket sales, 2 per member.  TOMORROW Tues April 16 tickets are available to the public online, cost is $40 per person, 2 tickets per order.  Share the link below with your friends who want to attend.  If there are still ticket, they will be available at the May meeting.

We’re Looking For…..

•           Nominations for Woman of the Year.  This is awarded to a member whose exceptional leadership, dedication and service has made a significant impact within the club and community over the years.  Please forward your recommendations, including your reason for the nomination to Libby ([email protected]) or Joanne ([email protected])    

•           Donations of Gift Cards:  May 4 MOULTONBOROUGH ACADEMY CHEM-FREE AFTER PROM EVENT is looking for donations of gift cards  in a variety of denominations for Dunkins, Starbucks, Amazon, & Gas Cards to use for prizes and raffles for the students.  Can you help?

FYI:  Please write a separate check or have cash for each event – an extra couple minutes of your time will save Kathy, our Treasurer, a BUNDLE of bookkeeping time!

•           Tickets for the June Jamboree – June 8, pending availability

•           Hostess signup for 2024 – 2025 – sign up at the meeting or send your first and second month choices to Tracy at [email protected].  The months of May and September are reserved for snowbirds, with September slots available to our members who are unable to handle the physical set up and clean up tasks at other meetings.

•           May 14 Bake Sale at the Town Election.  We need bakers and helpers!!  All proceeds go to the Scholarship Fund!  Contact Debbie DeBerardinas [email protected]  or Nancy Slaney [email protected] to offer your help working the sale OR to bake.

•           Be a Storytime Guest Reader: 3:30 pm Friday afternoons at the Moultonborough Library.  Do you enjoy reading to children?  If so, sign up at Guest Story Time to choose a time; the Library will choose the books!  Contact Nancy Hill  [email protected] with  questions. 

•           Mexican Train Dominos - Fridays at Identity Coffee Meredith from 10-12. Contact Gayle Russell [email protected]

•           BOOK CLUB on June 26  at 4 pm at the Moultonborough Library.  Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus has been selected; contact Margaret Walsh [email protected] if you would like to attend.

MWC Charitable Works 

The MWC has 150 members from towns in the Lakes Region and promotes community, educational and social activities and actively support community needs in the Moultonborough area.   

Charitable Activity:

  • Awarded over $216,000 in scholarships for deserving Moultonborough students
  • Raised over $160,000 for the American Cancer Society by participating in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk  
  • Supports the Children’s Christmas Trust by donating Christmas gifts for Moultonborough children
  • Our “Charity of the Month” provides food, personal products, toys, supplies and other items to local groups in need including:  

o   David’s House, Lebanon, NH, Waypoint Family Resource Center, Laconia, Starting Point, Lakes Region Food Pantry, Veterans Home Sunshine Cart 

  • Annually donates in excess of $2000 to local charities including:

o   Interlakes Community Care Givers, Lakes Region Food Pantry, Granite VNA, Carroll County Retired & Senior Volunteer Program, Circle Program, Ossipee Concerned Citizens, Starting Point, Lakes Region VNA, Winnipesaukee Wellness Center

  • Contributes to the Meredith Village Savings Bank’s Mitten Tree by making / buying mittens and hats for local families  
  • Read stories to young children at the library
